Bobbin Halkey Roberts ( V80040 bobbin )
Application
1. The V80040 Bobbin Assembly is designed to disintegrate when submerged in water. This allows the firing mechanism to puncture the CO2 cylinder and fill the inflatable chamber.
2. To ensure consistent service from your manual/automatic inflator, the bobbin should be changed at regular Halkey-Roberts recommended intervals or replaced more frequently in extreme conditions (e.g. high temperature and high humidity).
Caution:
– The bobbin is authorized for use only on Halkey-Roberts Corp. products.
– Bobbin must be stored in a cool, dry environment.
(65 ºF to 85 ºF or 19 ºC to 29 ºC; Maximum 60%RH).
Expiry date:
1. For convenience, the expiration date is printed on the Bobbin Assembly.
2. One year service lifespan typically for commercial users and two year typically for leisure users
Inflator UM 5000 for automatic Alpha inflator UML Mk5
MK5i Cartridge UMA 5000 is for re-arming life jackets which use the United Moulders Mk5 auto Inflator.
We recommend that before each wearing of the lifejacket you carefully check its inflation mechanism, making sure that it is visually in good condition and:
– The membrane of the CO2 cartridge is not pierced and is screwed in tightly by hand.
– the activator is up to date and is screwed all the way in by hand
– safety clips and indicators are available and are correct for the model
Refer to the manufacturer’s manual for instructions and follow the recommended service intervals.
We recommend that lifejackets be serviced by an approved and certified service station.
When using the lifejacket on recreational vessels: Replace the activator every two years or at the latest by the marked REPLACE BY date, whichever comes first. However, we recommend you to refer to your lifejacket manual and to check it every year.
For commercial/professional use: Replace the activator every two years or until the date written under REPLACE BY, whichever occurs first. SOLAS approved lifejackets must be serviced by an authorized service station at 12 month intervals.
The status indication system
The indication on the MK5 standard automatic inflation mechanism allows the user to determine whether the system is activated or malfunctioning. The CO2 cartridge should be checked each time before using the lifejacket. To make sure it’s not punctured, you need to unscrew it and check its membrane, then screw it in tight by hand. Check the expiration date of the UMA 5000 activator to ensure that the replacement date has not passed. The activator must be tightly screwed by hand to the end position, which prevents water from entering the system.
There are 2 forms of indication:
Automatic indicator
Manual indicator
Both indicators should be green. (see Fig. 1)
The automatic indicator is visible as a “cap” on the activator.
GREEN indicates OK and RED indicates STOP/DO NOT USE.
The hand indicator is located on the side of the inflatable head.
GREEN indicates OK and RED indicates STOP/NOT USED.
The indicators should be checked each time before using the life jacket.
